The Best Day Ever
Do you ever stop and think about how cool everyday life is and why small things make life awesome and its never about the big stuff like lets say how birthdays or vacations make you feel great. I mean the tiny moments that make you smile for no reason. The ones that feel like little hugs from your favourite people. I personally love when someone arrange a small birthday surprise for me, it just makes my day. Today, I want to talk about those secret happy moments that we forget to notice because we’re too busy looking for "important" things.
The first bite of your favorite food. You know that feeling when you’re super hungry, and finallyy you get to eat? Maybe it’s a gooey grilled cheese sandwich, or a perfect slice of pizza where the cheese stretches a mile when you pull it. That first bite? Magic. Your taste buds do a happy crazy dance and for a second, everything is right in the world.
When you find money you forgot about. Okay, imagine this. You’re cleaning your room (because Mom said so), and BOOM, you find money in your pocket. You didn’t even know it was there! It’s like the best moment of your life and now you can buy candy, save it, or stick it in your next birthday card for someone else to find. Free money = instant joy.
That one song that makes you dance no matter what. You could be in the worst mood ever because your homework is piled up, your little brother annoying you but then your favourite song comes on, this is the one song that makes your feet move before your brain even decides to dance. Suddenly, you’re spinning in your socks like a maniac, air-guitaring like a rockstar. Problems? What problems?
The smell of rain on hot pavement. You ever notice how right before it rains in summer, the air gets all heavy and warm? Then the first drops hit the sidewalk, and that earthy, fresh smell hits you. It smells like worms and adventure and staying inside to watch cartoons while the rain taps on the roof. Best. Smell. Ever.
When your pet does something dumb and cute. Dogs who chase their tails. I personally have a dog when it does something to me or even it brings that ball to me I just feel so great. Cats who fall off the couch while sleeping. Hamsters stuffing their cheeks till they look like fuzzy balloons. Pets don’t know they’re being funny and they’re just living their best lives. And watching them is better than any TV show. I swear.
Getting into bed with fresh sheets. You know those nights when your sheets are just washed? They smell like sunshine, and they’re all cool and smooth when you slide in.You stretch out like a starfish and think that I could stay here forever until mom yells and say its time for school.
Making someone laugh so hard they snort. Jokes are fun, but the BEST feeling is when you say or do something so silly that your friend laughs until they snort like a pig. Then YOU start laughing at THEIR snort, and soon you’re both wheezing on the floor. That kind of laughter is like a superpower and it can fix bad days in seconds.
The last day of school before summer and that final bell rings, and you sprintt out the door like a prisoner escaping. Your backpack is full of crumpled papers you’ll never look at again. The sun is shining. The pool is waiting. For one perfect moment, you feel like the king/queen of the world. No alarms, no homework, its just freedom.
When a baby or little kid chooses you. Little kids are weird. They’ll ignore a room full of people, then suddenly crawl into yourr lap like and they say you things like “I really like you” or “ you are my best friend”. They might show you a booger or tell you a secret about their stuffed animal. It doesn’t matter. Being picked by a tiny human is an honor.
That feeling when you finish something hard. Maybe it’s a tough math test. Or cleaning your whole room without being asked. Or finally beating that impossible level in your game. You slump back and go, "I DID IT." Even if no one else notices, YOU know you’re a superhero.
Waking up and realizing it’s saturday. You open your eyes, all ready to groan about school… then remember it’s SATURDAY. No alarm. No rushing. Just you, your blanket cave, and maybe a bowl of cereal while watching cartoons. That is a Pure. Happiness.
